BOULEVARD TREE GUIDANCE

Amendment 11 of the C&Rs addresses Boulevard/Street Trees

Street Tree Maintenance. The Association sl1all be responsible for the care, maintenance, and replacement of all Street Trees situated within the Community right-of-way planting strips located between the curb line and the pedestrian sidewalk (the''Street Trees''). Such responsibility shall include, without limitation: 

    (i) monitoring the health and condition of all Street Trees; 
    (ii) removing and lawfully disposing of any Street Tree determined by the Board or a certified arborist to be diseased, dead, hazardous, or otherwise         (iii) inappropriate for its location; 
    (iv) re-planting replacement trees of similar caliper and species ( or such other species as may be approved by the Architectural Control Committee) within a reasonable period not to exceed ninety (90) days after removal, weather and planting season permitting; 
    (v) annual edging of the tree wells and the replenishment or replacement of mulch therein; and 
pruning, structural trimming, and other arboricultural services as may be reasonably necessary to promote the long-term health of the Street Trees and to maintain an attractive streetscape consistent with the Community-Wide Standard." 

Boulevard Tree Policy:

  • Based on an approved list from the City of Huntsville, the tree must be of the following variety:
    • Trident Maple
    • Hedge Maple
    • Red Maple
    • Sugar Maple
    • Dawn Redwood
    • Redbud
    • Sawtooth Oak
    • White Oak
    • Southern Red Oak
    • Overcup Oak
  • The trunk of the tree should be a minimum of a 3” diameter
  • The tree ring must be 5’ diameter and mulched with black mulch in accordance with the attached diagram and pictures.

HOA tree ring maintenance and trimming will begin in the spring and will bring tree rings into compliance.
